We at Pélago Sea Sponges are committed to worldwide export of our natural sea sponges and to the continued growth and development of the Sponging Industry within the Bahamas. To that end, this website is dedicated to such growth and education of this industry as we continually look for ways to improve the quality of the sponges we offer and the prompt efficient service we render. Paramount in our services is sponge export, while we do make contact for you with the sponge packers and harvesters in Long Island. We have partnered with these sponge fishermen who do some of this harvesting, however the bulk is hand selected from other partners in the industry to insure that you receive the best product at the best prices. These sponges are then shipped to the capital of The Bahamas, Nassau, for export. (We will explain our shipping and related sponge export charges upon request.)

While in Long Island, the sponges are sorted and graded by hand, then baled into a manageable size measuring 31x23x12 inches and could have up to 700 pieces of sponges or more sometimes less, depending on size of the sponges and could weigh in at about 47lbs/21kgs or more!


They are then shipped to order in their raw natural state where the final processing is left up to the client. We also would like to invite you down to Long Island so you can experience the whole thing from: sponge harvesting, the initial cleaning and baling of these natural sea beauties.
